CMRL has announced six vacancies in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The posts are General Manager (Signal & Telecom), Additional General Manager (Safety – Operations & Maintenance), Manager (Telecom), Manager (Electrical Traction), Manager (Electrical & Mechanical), and Assistant Manager (Public Relations). Appointments are on a contract or deputation basis.
Eligibility
Applicants must be Indian Nationals and meet the post-specific education, experience, age and sector or cadre requirements. The detailed notice sets out different criteria for each post. The notification also specifies cadre or pay-scale and sector-specific experience requirements for Railway/central government, state government, Metro/PSU and private-sector applicants. Check the official notification for the rules applicable to your post and employment sector.
Age Limit
The maximum age varies by post and is 30 to 55 years. The stated post-wise maximum ages are 55 years for General Manager, 47 for Additional General Manager, 38 for Manager posts and 30 for Assistant Manager. Age and experience are assessed as of 14 October 2026.
Relaxation is 5 years for SC/ST candidates, 2 years for MBC, Denotified Communities and Backward Classes (including Backward Classes (Muslim)), up to 10 years for differently abled persons applying through direct recruitment, and armed-forces service length plus 3 years for ex-servicemen. The maximum age after cumulative relaxation cannot exceed 58 years as of the notification date.

Contract appointments are initially for two years and may be extended by mutual consent. Deputation is initially for three years and may be extended up to five years. The notice also describes possible pay arrangements, allowances and benefits for contract and deputation appointees.

Payment is by NEFT or UPI to the CMRL account specified in the notification.
Selection Process
Selection has two stages: an interview followed by a medical examination. CMRL will shortlist interview candidates based on the documents and details submitted online. CMRL will bear the cost of the first medical examination. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
Documents to Prepare
- Recent passport-size photograph in JPEG/PNG format, maximum 2 MB.
- Age proof, such as a birth certificate or Class 10 certificate.
- Community certificate.
- Educational certificates, as applicable, from Class 10, Class 12, diploma, graduation and postgraduate study.
- Experience certificates from present and previous employers.
- NOC or through-proper-channel letter for government/PSU applicants.
- NEFT/UPI fee payment receipt or acknowledgement details.
- Detailed resume, biodata or CV.
- Ex-servicemen or disability proof, where applicable.
- For deputation applicants: the last five years’ ACRs, vigilance clearance, integrity certificate and HR proforma.
- For private-sector applicants: organisational chart and proof of project size or turnover.
How to Apply
- Register on the CMRL Career portal using a valid email address, then verify the account through the authentication link sent to that address.
- Log in and complete the personal, educational and professional experience sections.
- Pay the applicable fee by NEFT/UPI to the designated CMRL bank account and note the transaction details.
- Upload the required scanned certificates, documents, photograph and payment receipt.
- Review and submit the online application by 3 November 2026. The notice says no hard copy needs to be sent by post.
