- Print the form on white A4-size paper and complete it in CAPITAL LETTERS.
- Paste one recent self-attested passport-size photograph (4.5 cm × 3.5 cm) at the top right of the form.
- Attach self-attested copies of the documents listed below. Incomplete applications without required documents will be rejected.
- Write “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF DRIVER (CONTRACTUAL), 2026” on the envelope. Submit the application by Speed Post or place it in the drop box at the address below on or before 21 October 2026.

Eligibility
- Applicants must be Indian citizens and permanent residents of West Bengal.
- Applicants must have passed Class VIII from a recognised school.
- A valid four-wheeler driving licence and at least two years’ driving experience in a government organisation, quasi-government organisation, registered private limited company, or similar organisation are required.

Age Limit
Applicants must be 21 to 40 years old as on 7 October 2026.
Salary
The consolidated pay is Rs. 16,000 per month, subject to applicable statutory deductions. The engagement is temporary and contractual for one year. Renewal is subject to satisfactory performance and approval by the competent authority. Contractual drivers will not be absorbed into or be entitled to claim appointment in the government’s regular establishment.

Selection Process
Valid applications will be shortlisted. Shortlisted candidates will be called for a Driving Test and Interview, carrying 40 marks in total: 20 marks for each. A merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained and published on the Howrah GRP website.
Provisionally selected candidates must undergo a medical fitness test and character and antecedent verification. Candidates will be required to submit a Police Clearance Certificate or undergo verification as prescribed by the competent authority at the time of joining. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the Driving Test and Interview.
