The engagement is temporary and contractual. The first appointment is for one year and may be extended up to three years in total, subject to the notice’s terms.
How to Apply
- Apply online through the Google Form specified in the advertisement. Physical application forms are not accepted.
- Submit the form by 30 October 2026 at 11:59 hrs for the first batch. After that, applications are accepted from the 1st to the 20th of each month up to 30 July 2027.
- For applications to more than one department or subject area, state your order of preference and submit a separate form for each department. Record your consent to serve as Professor of Practice if selected.
- Experts may also be nominated by others, or may send their own nomination to the Vice-Chancellor with detailed biodata and a short write-up on their proposed contribution. A nomination by another person must include the expert’s biodata and written consent.
Eligibility
The position is open to distinguished experts with notable contributions in their professions. Fields listed include engineering, science, technology, entrepreneurship, commerce, social sciences, media, literature, fine arts, civil services, armed forces, law, community development and public administration, among others. The department-wise subject areas in Appendix-A are indicative; other areas relevant to a department’s programmes may also be considered.
- Applicants need proven expertise in the relevant profession or role and at least 15 years of service or experience, preferably at a senior level.
- A formal academic qualification is not essential where the candidate has exemplary professional practice. Applicants are exempt from publication requirements and other Professor-level faculty eligibility criteria, but must have the skills needed for the stated duties.
- For departments running AICTE programmes, the notice also refers to Gujarat Government norms requiring one of the following: a Ph.D. with 10 years’ relevant experience in a large conglomerate; a master’s degree with 15 years’ relevant experience in a large conglomerate; a B.E./B.Tech. with 17 years’ relevant experience in a large conglomerate; or a Ph.D., master’s degree or B.Tech. with at least five patents and five years’ experience in a start-up. A Ph.D. is desirable for guiding Ph.D. research scholars but is not mandatory for teaching.
- People who are serving or retired in the teaching profession are excluded; their applications will be rejected.
The role may involve course and curriculum development, teaching and practical or project work, student mentoring, industry–academia collaboration, workshops, joint research or consultancy, and guidance on projects and dissertations.

Salary
The honorarium is ₹2,000 per hour. No service benefits, EPF, gratuity or other perks are provided beyond the fixed honorarium. The engagement does not create a right to regular appointment, absorption, continuation or seniority at the University.

Selection Process
Selection follows the procedure in Ordinance-189 and the University circular dated 15 April 2023. Candidates other than those nominated and directly approved under the notice’s provisions are considered by a Selection Committee. The University makes engagements based on the Committee’s recommendations. Meeting the eligibility criteria does not by itself guarantee an invitation to appear before the Committee.
